On the road again back Down Under....60 years here I come!
on Samchow58's travel map.
December 14
This trip is a different trip for me because I am used to travelling alone. This will be my third visit to Kona. It’s a laid back island with lots to explore.
I will be travelling with my son (Brad), my nephew (Tony), a friend and his daughter (Craig and Danielle) for the first week to Kona. Then Brad and I will head off to Australia from Honolulu. Everyone else will go their separate ways for Christmas.
The last few months have been busy.... winding down from summer, getting this trip planned, and spending time with the kids before I left.
I had a flight booked from Nanaimo harbour to Vancouver for early afternoon. As the morning went on, a big heavy cloud bank rolled it. This cancelled my flight so I had hopped on the ferry and headed to the airport (bus, train, and plane).
These shoes will be my best friend for the next 2 months.
Today is Gerald’s 61st Birthday.... happy birthday in heaven.
After pickin up our nice new Tahoe, we drove into Kona to Uncle Billy’s Kona Bay Hotel for the night. It was an old hotel but right on the waterfront.... rooms were old and smelled old.

In the morning, we walked around Kona and had breakfast at Humpy’s.
This was my amazing view.
We headed over to Paniolo Greens Resort, our home for the week, only to find out check in isn’t till 4 pm. Talked to the concierge and headed off to explore the North Coast of the Big Island.

Lapakahi was a place of the maka’ainana, the fishermen and farmers over 700 years ago.
Hi Sandra: Highlights of Tasmania for me were Hobart, if you go on a Saturday check out Salamanca Market and Fish Frenzy for awesome Tasmania Scallops. The mountain in Hobart offers great views as well. If heading north check out Cradle Mountain great all day hike and visit to the Tasmanian devil center in the evening. Cradle Mountain is where we saw all of the wombats and echidnas at ~6pm once they are out and about. There are also many rivers in Tasmania to see platypus as well. Have a great trip.
