View On the road again back Down Under....60 years here I come! on Samchow58's travel map.

January 13
Had a quick bowl of oatmeal in my room and headed out to explore. I don’t have much time to spend in Hobart.

Saw some sights on my way to Battery Point.

I walked through Salamanca Market....so many things to see. They literally sell everything. Flower, fruit and vegetables, breads of all types, beautiful jewelry, belts, scarves, alcohol, and food booths.

They also have portable ATMs just in case you need some.

The skies open again....torrential downpour! I was soaked through all my clothes. Continued on the Battery Point. Walking in Battery Point gives one an uncanny sense of stepping back in time. The streets and sandstone buildings have an eccentric charm of a Victorian town and that the architecture and layout has been untouched for over a hundred years.

Went back to the airport to pick up my campervan.

I was heading up to Mt. Wellington but changed my mind because of the heavy rain. I’m hoping to do the drive on my last day back in Hobart. Stopped for groceries on my way to MONA. The Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) is an art museum located within the Moorilla winery on the Berriedale peninsula in Hobart. It is the largest privately funded museum in Australia. There was so many interesting things to see...

Cradle Mountain is 4 hours away....the drive was brutal. Parts of the A1 (main highway) was so windy it made it difficult to keep the high top camper van on the road. The last hour of the drive was very windy and windy (????).

Settled in for the next two nights here. This campervan is much nicer than the one Brad and I had. It has a tv and the setup is muc( better.

It is much colder here in Cradle Mountain. I noticed that my hands are very cold and I’m using s sleeping bag and a wool blanket. The temperature is currently 1 Celsius and I only have a light pair of long pants and a hoodie. Thank goodness I, only here for two nights! It feels like home.....
