On the road again back Down Under....60 years here I come!
on Samchow58's travel map.
January 15
On the road by 7:30 this morning....heading to Stanley. It wasn’t a long drive....2.5 hours! Got to the caravan park a trip 10am all ready to check in. The very unfriendly lady at the desk looked at me and told me that I was too early and for me to come back around noon.
So I decided to climb the Nut before I checked in. The historic village of Stanley is nestled at the base of the Nut, a sheer-sided bluff - all that remains of an ancient volcanic plug. The Zig Zag track up The Nut is short, steep and takes about 15 minutes, although you can get the chairlift up to the plateau. The walk around the circuit track takes about 1 hour. The views across Bass Strait beaches and over the town are spectacular.
This is my view from my campervan today
I walked downtown Stanley....only took me 10 minutes.
The lady at the information centre told me about this great scenic drive I could do. Al9ng the way I stopped at Godfrey’s Beach but didn’t stay too long. The flies were biting me.
It was low tide at the beach right in front of the caravan park....
Beautiful sunset
It was very windy here in Stanley for most of the day, it sure was good to feel the sun after two days of cold. Yikes! What am I going to do when I get home?
