On the road again back Down Under....60 years here I come!

January 16
I had a 4.5 hour drive to Freycinet National Park today. So it was wheels up at 5:30 am. The drive was good....some white knuckle driving at times when the speed limit is 100km and the roads are very windy and cars and trucks in your tail! I checked into the caravan park at 10:30 am and headed straight to the Park Information Centre to buy my park pass and get some information.
Freycinet is a national park on the east coast of Tasmania, 125 km northeast of Hobart. Founded in 1916, it is one of Tasmania's oldest park. Freycinet contains part of the rugged Tasmanian coastline and includes the secluded Wineglass Bay, voted by several travel authorities as one of the world's ten best beaches. Famous features of the park include its red and pink granite formations and a series of jagged granite peaks in a line, called "The Hazards”.
Off I went 45 minutes to Wineglass Bay Lookout.
This wallyaby just stood there looking at people walking by
Some of the many steps to the lookout
Then it was down to Wineglass Bay....a 1.5 hour walk....and I forgot my bathing suit! The walk down was easy.....thousands of steps! All the time I’m thinking of the walk back up!!
The view that greets you
The water was very cold
I stayed there for about 45 minutes as I was really in no rush to climb those stairs up. But it was time....it was a tough walk up.
I got my bathing suit and stoped at Honeymoon Bay is a gorgeous swimming spot with beautiful clear water. I had a very refreshing swim....brrrr!
Next stop was Cape Tourville Lighthouse. The views were spectacular.
Sleepy Bay was next....and I did take a nap there! The pink granite was pretty comfy.
Last stop was Richardson beach.... had another refreshing swim.
