March 11
The day started with waking up to the sound of the surf! Ahhh!
Breakfast view wasn’t too bad.

Took a stroll down the beach as all the fishermen were coming home with their catch.

I spent the whole day by the pool….reading, napping and swimming. It’s been years since I read a whole book in a day!
My view for the day….

March 12
Difficult night of sleep…in and out of sleep but never in rem!
Took my walk down the beach and collected more beautiful shells. Being a Sunday, the beach is a bit busier than usual. Families and groups of fishermen littered the beach

This young mom was cleaning fish without a knife (type of tuna) while watching her little ones play in the surf. She said that she was going grill them for dinner.

I met a group of young ladies who stopped me to say Hi. They were so giggly when I asked them if they spoke English. “Very little” was what I got. One girl struggled to ask me where I was from. Once they heard I was from Canada they wanted to take a group picture with me.

The front desk kept telling me to visit Senggigi…the Art Market, the stores along the main road, and the Senggigi beach. So after breakfast, I decided to head to see the town of Senggigi. The Bluebird taxi driver informed me that since the 2018 earthquake Senggigi has closed down. The buildings were all damaged and uninhabitable and the beach was not what I imagined. I should have listened to him and gone to another area to explore!

I googled how far it was to my hotel…..2.7 km about 58 minutes. With one foot in front of the other, I began my trip back.
Took me a little of 50 mins to do that trek! I was hot and sweaty.

Stopped along the way and picked up 2 ice cold cokes (I don’t usually drink pop)and some Pringle. The first one when down so easy….

Spent a quiet afternoon in the shade by the pool napping and listening to music. Went for a walk down the beach just before dinner.

I hired a car and driver to take me to Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep Waterfalls tomorrow.
