March 14
It was a very quiet day….. breakfast, a walk on the beach, then poolside all day! Finished a second book in a day!

March 15
Up early, got packed and headed out to meet Nur again at 8 am. Today we are heading South to explore the Secret Gilis. We drove through many villages and towns to get to Tawun Harbour.

The Secret Gilis are located in the region of Sekotong. The area is still very raw and finding regular transport is difficult. Locals mine gold in these mountains.

Gili Kedis, Gili Nanggu, and Gili Sudak are three southwest Lombok Islands tucked away from their island cousins in the North. Nicknamed the Secret Gili Islands of southwest Lombok, they’re known for incredible snorkeling and actually aren’t really that secret. But compared to the more famous “Gili Islands”, these are more peaceful.

First island is Gili Nanggu. large_A1D17D64-2614-42EE-973B-F6364A8B33A8.jpeglarge_E649AC78-CA26-4C8A-813A-2DDBE074D25E.jpeg

There used to be a hotel but is now closed. Snorkelling in the area is amazing, however we were being stung by jellyfish today. Apparently, jellyfish appear after heavy rains..

I spent an hour or so exploring the island

Next island - Gili Kedis
It was a very small island with a few trees and a store to buy snacks.

Last island was Gili Sudak. This is where I had lunch. It consisted of three different kinds of fish, veggies, friend shrimp, rice and a delish chili sauce. Nur joined me for lunch as I could not eat it all. He told me to eat lunch with my fingers, like all people from Lombok do!
