Homeward bound

semi-overcast 29 °C

March 29
Overcast skies meant no sunrise this morning. Found a nice breakfast place on the beach with a great view except two families with little ones sat beside me. Now I am not one to complain about little ones…. Little Ziggy would be about 3 years old. Mom and dad kept saying Ziggy don’t…..Ziggy stop……. Things came to an end when Ziggy pushed their electric scooter and it fell on her. It ended with mom and dad yelling at Ziggy and at each other!
After a nice long walk I ended up poolside for about an hour or so.

First leg of the flight Denpasar to Taipei - 5 hours. Pretty uneventful.

Next leg Taipei to Vancouver - 10 hours.
This was a full flight! Very full! I was assigned the window seat and I had the seat mate from hell! She arrived in a whirlwind. I swear her bag exploded! She pulled out 2 pillows (full size), a blanket, flip flops, and many other little things. She asked the attendant for 2 blankets. Her pillows kept falling on me and my seat! Our meal came, she ate hers and asked the lady on the other side if she could have her kimchi salad. She had so many things on her and in her seat pouch that every time she moved something fell out. An hour left in the flight she decided to watch a movie, she asked both of us if she could use our ear plugs. We both said no. Happy to have that trip over!

Last leg Vancouver to Nanaimo - 15 minutes

Before I embarked on this trip, I had second thoughts and anxieties about travelling alone. Being 5 years older I worried about being slower, being able to pack my big backpack around, would I be able to figure out how to get from point A to point B. I woke up at 2 am on the first night looking for my telus SIM card. I usually store it in my passport folder but I couldn’t find it ANYWHERE. So I message Stephanie, my daughter, to ask her to call and cancel my SIM card. Fast forward 3 weeks, I went to put some cash in my iPhone case and what do I find when I took it off…..my telus SIM card!l

Ubud was a bit too busy for me this time. Too much traffic, too many tourists, and too much noise. Meeting AJ was a real bonus. We just clicked immediately when he sat beside me on our flight to Denpasar. It made the week more bearable as he was so kind to take me places. He is a very nice man and I wish him happiness.

Lombok was quiet, it was the quiet I needed to wind down and relax and the resort was beautiful. I felt the the power of Mother Earth at Tiu Kepel Waterfall and experienced the beauty of the Secret Gilis.

Nusa Penida was breathtaking. Klengking beach, Diamond beach, Atuh Beach, and the diving was phenomenal. I was glad to have been able to experience Nyepi. It was a day of self reflection, 3 hours of yoga and just relaxing. The best part of that week was being able to spend it with Lou, David at Deeproots Dive and Yoga Retreat, meeting new friends Dawie (David's Dad) and diving with Chris. Can’t wait for the next visit.

Sanur was busier than Lombok and Nusa Penida. Exploring all the different restaurants made it difficult to decide on any meals. The sunrises in Sanur were beautiful while sim sets on Lombok weren’t too bad.

Thanks for following me.... until next time!
