Early morning on the beach. Heavy rain for about 50 seconds... got soaking wet. Checked out at 10 am, sat and waited for the ferry to come. We loaded into the tenders and boarded Ocean Dreaming. Today, we are going to Korovou Eco-Tour Resort. It's a bigger, beautiful resort. I have a cute little bure (bungalow) on the water. It has a great deck with 2 lounge chairs. There is a fresh water pool and an great beach. The snorkeling here is supposed to be exceptional.
All checked in, had lunch. Spent a few hours at the pool theen headed off to my deck. Relaxed and did some great reading... and napping (I never nap). I took a walk on the beach, met a worker that offered to cut open a coconut for me (for a fee, of course). As I was sitting there eating, we chatted. He told me there are 7 villages on this island, the biggest island of the Yaswara group. Employees work 25 to 30 straight days, then head home for 5 days with their family. Their minimum wage is $2.32 an hour (so paying $3 for that coconut was perfect). Awful wage considering what it costs to visit Fiji. All villages have primary schools, but the older students must travel to Nadi for high school or University (that's an average a 3 hour boat trip both ways). Schools are free however you must pay for books. The government will not be charging for books in the coming years. This is to ensure all children attend school.
Another beautiful sunset (you sick of them yet?). Sorry, but I love them.
Dinner was great. I sat with a couple, from the UK. They were lots of fun. After dinner we watched a few Fijian dance, the staff got is up dancing too. The evening ended with a fire show and a camp fire complete with guitar playing and singing.

Today is Sunday... There are no activities planned in Sunday's in Fiji. It's a church day. They drive everyone to church. Our group that arrived yesterday all have an activity voucher for diving with the Mantarays. They told us the they would not be taking us out today. But after some consideration, they have changed their mind and we will be heading out this morning.
We headed out to see the Mantarays but was unable to find them. So we snorkelled at an awesome reef. The current was so strong that we didn't have to really do anything. We hopped back into the boat and snorkelled the path that the Mantarays swim, twice. Nothing.
Came back in, relaxed by the pool. After lunch we went to the other side of the island to snorkel. We had to pay the owner of the beah $2 before we could enter his property. The reef was awesome.
I played volleyball before dinner. Then called it an earlly night.
While on the ferry coming to Kororvou, I met a few people that were on a few of my excursions (along with some that left Manta Ray Island with me). I've been hanging out with them. Not one of them is over 21 years old. They are a great bunch of kids and they call me Mom. Funny that they are all travelling to the next island with me.
Looks like more of paradise. Enjoy.
